Latest updates making my screen flicker all the time

Hi all.

I'm running a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon. Everything up to date, no prior problems etc.

After the latest 'automatic updates' which i'm prompted to do several times per month by the system, my computer has developed a randomly 'flickering' screen whereby the screen will just flicker. Seems to be worse if there's multiple tabs/windows open and if i'm scrolling.

Any idea on how i can fix this without having to wait for the next base code update? It's super annoying.

Does it still happen when you boot an older kernel?

I've never booted an older kernel. Although it's only happened after the latest update.

I have the same problem, which vanished when I booted into the prior kernel. Bad problem, but good to know it is not just me.

Than you can use an old kernel as a workaround, report a bug and hope it will be fixed in a later upgrade.

If i choose a previous kernel is my drive safe or should i back up first?

Also, how do i report a bug that isn't specific to a program or app? I'm only seeing report procedures for when something goes wrong with apps.

Booting an older kernel is'nt particularly dangerous, so no need for extra backups, but it's always good to have backups.

Bugs can be reported in software packages. The kernel is a software package, just like an application is. Or you could simply hope someone else reports the issue. It seems common enough that the devs are already working on this issue. I didn't check though.
