I built a new computer using ASUS ROG sTRIX TRX XE 40 Gaming motherboard. Installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS on it. On my previous computer, had the same OS, albeit different motherboard. With the new build, it seems that I don't have sound from either the onboard audio card as well as front panel. I was looking online for resolution and found a thread from about a year ago here. It seems that folks had this problem with the TRX 40 chipset, but it also seems like it was fixed via some patches in kernal 5.5. I am not sure if those patches were applied to subsequent kernals or not, but I am running kernal 5.8.0-44-generic, so hopefully the new kernal has the appropriate drivers for the TRX 40 chipset.
Regardless, has anyone else encountered this issue? If so, I will be grateful if you can suggest a way to fix the no sound issue with my particular hardware.
