Making my webmail the default email app

To get my email, I use a webmail app provided by getmymail.co.uk, used for many years, opening in Firefox.
Many websites, when one clicks on a 'contact us' button, opens up a drop down menu asking which app to use, commonly Thunderbird or Gmail, or 'Browse' for another application.
What am I browsing for ? I don't know what to look for, nor where to look in my system, in order to select Getmymail as my default.
    Is it even possible ?
    Hoping someone can help,
    John

Not sure it is possible since it would mean that the link has to open the browser and reach the correct url (the easy part), but then to log in with your credentials and "click" the correct button to open a new mail with the correct addressee pre-filled in.
Why don't you use a mail client like Thunderbird? With the IMAP protocol, your client is always synchronized with the webmail.

    This might help explain ...

    But +1 for Thunderbird.

You can also automate UI processes. I can expand if you wish.
