Can't get the Kindle app to install

I just installed Ubuntu for the first time & don't have a lot of experience with it yet so... Am I doing something wrong or is it just not compatible with Ubuntu?

    What Kindle app?
Where did it come from, or are you simply saying that you can not find one?

    Aren't Kindles handled by Calibre?

This may also help with file access

I don't use it myself and just use the web connection on my phone to pull down books etc. Far easier IMHO

Use the Kindle Cloud Reader in your browser - Firefox or Chromium. You log in and can access all the books you have purchased, but they are stored on Amazon server - not stored on your computer.

    Kindle Cloud Reader:

What do you mean where did it come from? Amazont. Here's the link. https://www.amazon.com/b?node=16571048011. It says it's not supported when I open it.

That is your answer, there are no Kindle packages supporting your operating system on the Amazon webpage.

You are looking at a page for the Kindle app, not the Kindle Cloud Reader. It's not for Linux. Cloud Reader works for any OS that can use Firefox or Chromium Browser.

You don't download or install anything. Just go to: https://read.amazon.ca/ and log in with your Amazon Password. It's a cloud service. I understand that even if you have purchased Kindle books in the past for a Kindle device, you will see your purchases in the browser. Click on a displayed book to read it.

You can purchase books through the Cloud Reader by clicking on the "Kindle Store" button in upper right when viewing your Library of books (Library button).
