Issues with media sharing Ubuntu 20.04

Hello, and thanks for advance for your patience. I am running Ubuntu 20.04 within a VMware Workstation 15 player. The workstation is housed in a Lenovo laptop running Windows 10. If possible, I would like to be able to stream media to my Roku boxes. When I go to settings under sharing, the screen and media sharing boxes are grayed out. Can someone help me with this? Please forgive me if I've posted this in the wrong place. Likewise if I've left out important information. I'm not a computer expert. I only know enough to get myself in trouble. Scott

Can you please explain why do you want to do that ("stream media" from a virtual machine)?
Don get me wrong, there are many scenarios where that would be a thing but none of them is for home "not a computer expert" users.
