    VLC Won't record video

System: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS, Fully Updated

When I tried to use VLC to do video recording, it started OK for less than one second, then the screen froze. Audio recording, however, continued and can be saved and played back, with the screen showing only the frozen video frame.

    Re: VLC Won't record video

I've never used VLC to record video after trying it out 10 yrs ago and failing.
These days I use either OBS or SimpleScreenRecorder, but I have used ffmpeg directly and that worked fine too. OBS can record and mux video with professional-like productions. SSR is pretty bonehead and "just works", at least under X11.

Wayland broke many screen recording tools. To my knowledge, only the Gnome tool works with Wayland.
https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2018/06/...ecorder-ubuntu As I don't use Gnome3 and that seems to be the requirement, I have no idea how good or even if it actually works. SSR works.

Thanks! OSB-Studio works great, and is now very easy to install too.

You can reinstall this. Never had such problems.
