Is Kali supported here please?
You missed the point, completely...am aware that you shouldn't update or upgrade in any sort whenever Katoolin3 is running.
The workflow is 1) add repository 2) install Katoolin 3) remove repository. It has nothing to do with running the tools, it is about NOT having the repository when doing "upgrade" or "full-upgrade" otherwise it'll turn your distro into Kali, exactly what happened here.
And like what happens with any other software, you should NOT install new software before correcting the "broken packages" and, better, assuring the system is fully updated before doing new installs.
Now reinstall Ubuntu and follow the best practices enunciated above. Oh, and if you want to play hacker use Kali in a live session.
