Inkscape not default app for .svg

I am having trouble opening .svg files in Ubuntu.
I use inkscape exclusively to create .svg files and I have many of them.
When I double click on a .svg file I get no action
If I right click on the file I get this

So I must double click on Inkscape to open the file in Inkscape.

How can I make Ubuntu recognise thie .svg file extension and associate it with Inkscape.

    btw
    I have checked in Ubuntu>settings>applications>inkscape...

As you can see *.svg files should already be associated with Inkscape.

I would appreciate it if someone could point out to me how to achieve this. Thanks

Thanks, I have looked at this though.

This is what it looks like if I right click on a .svg file and select properties...

Despite showing Inkscape as the default app, I get no reaction from Ubuntu when I double click a .svg file!

I tried to reset this setting but this is not helping
