    Always rebooting

    Hallo Everyone,

I have an irritating problem with a new install of Lubuntu 20.04: It always reboots after shutdown. Regardless of what I select (e.g. Shutdown).

I think it worked OK originally but I have been tweaking settings (e.g. when to go into sleep) so may have inadvertently adjusted something.

Any ideas where I should check?

    Many thanks,
    Alan Searle

    Re: Always rebooting

Does no one have any suggestions here?

It is driving me crazy that I have to do a forced power-down each time I want to shut down the system.

Thanks for any tips that you can give me.

    Yours,
    Alan

PS: Could it be something in the BIOS?

Why do you shut it down? Use Suspend/Resume.

What happens if you run sudo shutdown -h now in terminal?

    That should shut down totally.

    Re: Always rebooting

    Many thanks for the feedback.

    Here my replies ...

    - Suspend works fine: There is no reboot. So, yes, that is an option but it doesn't fix the problem.

    - With sudo shutdown -h now ... it shuts down but reboots (as with a normal shutdown).

I am starting to think it might be a setting in my BIOS so will fish around in that.

I will report back with my findings.

    Yours,
    Alan

Which settings did you change? You said
e.g. when to go into sleep
Can you please expand on this

    Re: Always rebooting

Good point: I will compare settings with another almost identical setup in another laptop and will report back. Thanks for the prod there!
