    Forbidden search?? ;)

When I search for this error message,

dpkg: error processing package grub-pc (--configure):

I get re-directed to this page....

    Forbidden

Since this has nothing to do with installing or upgrading Ubuntu, thread moved to Forum Feedback & Help.

Ever since Canonical IS hardened the server after a serious hack some years ago, the vBulletin software occasionally and unpredictably does kooky things like this. I feel for you. Sometimes it tells me that I don’t have permission to move a thread, or some other thing that forum staff are meant to do. Really?

I’m getting the same message. Try shortening your search phrase to:

    dpkg: error processing package grub-pc
    ...and you should be OK.

If the (--configure) bit is essential for your search, try a google search like this:

site:ubuntuforums.org “dpkg: error processing package grub-pc (--configure):”
You may have to fine tune the search for a specific time period if it serves up stuff that’s too old.

Edit: it seems that Google is in a contrary mood today as well. If I use that same exact search phrase in quotes, it tells me:

No results found for site:ubuntuforums.org “dpkg: error processing package grub-pc (--configure):”.

Results for site:ubuntuforums.org dpkg: error processing package grub-pc (--configure): (without quotes):
But then serves up a load of hits on this site for the exact phrase, that is, the phrase within the quotes.

    :sigh: Roll on tomorrow!

    Actually, yes...

    Backstory---

    I did a stupid thing...

for the first time since circa 06-04?? I UPGRADED directly from one LTS to the next LTS...

    18.04.05 directly to 20.04.1.

Major problems... many broken pieces... much gnashing of teeth...

This particular error code has given me fits...

    Possibly (highly) related problem...

GRUB will not see my keyboard..
I did find an older keyboard that does work, but it's a workaround, for now.

    Double sigh.

When I said, "nothing to do with installing or upgrading Ubuntu" I was referring to the fact that your post is about a problem you are having with the forum software. I don't doubt that you saw that error message when attempting an upgrade, but you asked about the forum permission message, not the upgrade error message. Hence the move to FF&H.

    Sorry, my bad.....

Now I get it... I was totally focused on my "bad up-date problem"..
Different views of my problem. Yours is the one that makes sense here.

Also, sorry, the remark possibly (highly) related problem...
was meant for the "no keyboard on boot" was related to the
    grub-pc error,
it was not relating to where this post belongs..
I should have better seprated it from the first part...

So... yes, I've run various restricted searches, but have not found solutions....

    Absolutely..
