Boot Repair - PPA or ISO

    Just a bit of info.

In many threads concerning boot problems, there is often the comment that:-
The boot-repair iso hasn't been updated for a long time
The 64bit iso was updated on 13 June 2020 https://sourceforge.net/projects/boot-repair-cd/files/

The 64bit iso now has the same package as provided by the PPA - 4ppa125 https://launchpad.net/~yannubuntu/+a...tu/boot-repair

As for keeping the iso up-to-date in the future.................

Re: Boot Repair - PPA or ISO

    I am most guilty one.
My standard copy & paste to use Boot-Repair has for years suggested to only use the ppa as that has been the most current.
And users typically already have the Ubuntu live installer, so usually easier to just add Boot-Repair to Ubuntu live installer.
Not sure about other distributions as Boot-Repair expects certain supporting software and then ISO may be better option.

Most also do not understand that Boot-Repair is not for fixing Windows issues. With BIOS it could install a generic Windows "type" boot loader, syslinux, but really could not fix Windows.
And it does not do partitioning, which sometimes is the issue.

But the report it generates is very useful for resolving boot issues.

Forum users have given you a free pardon due to your ceaseless and valuable advice concerning boot problems.

My standard copy & paste to use Boot-Repair has for years suggested to only use the ppa as that has been the most current
I would think that you could re-use this practice when the new ppa software is available.

The boot repair iso will probably fall behind boot-repair development.

    Best wishes oldfred
