Launcher Error: Unable to open archive file

I am a first time wine user and installed via the Ubuntu 20.04 repository.

When i try to run an '.exe' file using: wine XXXXX.exe

I get a pop-up window from Wine that says - Launcher Error: Unable to open archive file

Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks, I guess it not there. I was under the impression Wine applied generically to all Windows applications.

No, not at all.
Some software works the same or almost as native, other have issues but mostly work, many other don't.
Anything below Gold (at WineHQ) is likely to be a waste of time.
