    Edubuntu was a good start for students learning the first steps to Linux. Revive it!

    Edubuntu was a good start for students learning the first steps to Linux. It should be relaunched as a flavour of Ubuntu 20.04 LTS?

    The major Linux distributions have a version designed for the schools and universities, Ubuntu had also the Edubuntu operating system, and still have the Edubuntu-desktop bundle which can be installed over a new version of Ubuntu, however this option is not handy for a student which does not know Linux yet.
    Should Edubuntu be revived as a stand-alone distribution?

    Not a support request. Thread moved to Ubuntu, Linux and OS Chat.

    There is a new Ubuntu ED project available, but not official.

    @Frog Hair
    Thank you, they done a great job.
    But UbuntuEd is not the same with Edubuntu, and the Ubuntu Comunity should resume the work on Edubuntu and release it.

    Debian Edu / Skolelinux is a good alternative:

    Documentation is good.

    @KansasNoob
    I know that.
    Ubuntu is based on Debian, and DebianEdu Skolelinux is indeed a good alternative to Edubuntu, but is still not the same thing.

    Other good educational linux distributions are AcademiX, Ubermix/UberStudent, KnoSciences(Knoppix), Zorin OS Education - all of them based on Debian, and also couple of other distributions based on Fedora or OpenSUSE.

    But Edubuntu still has his fandom.

    If you are determined to see Edubuntu return, you might want to get in touch with the former developers and gather a community willing to take on the task of re-developing and maintaining it. But it would likely have to go through the same vetting process as any "new" flavor before it would be recognized again.
