Anything connected to the outside world can be hacked. I worked with people with degrees and certification that claimed they could not be hacked. They couldn't have been more wrong! We would do harmless hacks simply to show them this.

Computer Engineering here in Phil is more on hardware design, implementation, robotic and etc. Its hardware and software interfacing, not more on software's. Their study is a static unlike in Software Engineers they are more in software applications. Their Study is a Dynamic, more on software codes and etc.

Computer Engineering = light in software coding. they only code for their hardware.
Software Engineers = deep in software coding and can build security software walls or maybe can divert the "path" and cloak via software and change it until hacker can't find them or they are the one who hacks.

A college degree is just a piece of paper stating one passed some classes. It does not prove how capable one is.

Yes it is uRock. I agree with you. It is how you master the crafting not just talking and talk. Sometimes it has to be done not by just talking you must have to craft it.

though, it shows that you had some level of capability having passed the classes.

also many hacks are actually done using psychology. they trick you in false sense of security. just like various other tricks on the street. the higher the degree, the higher the arrogance and self confidence in one's knowledge.

however BS in computer engineering do poses more of the basic and intermediate knowledge of how hack might work, so they might be more prone to protecting themselves correctly and might be more of a challenge than people that are still somewhat scared of computers and software.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.

Re: Is a BS in computer engineering capable of protecting himself from hacks?

If a human can engineer it, a human can hack it. The USA Fed even hacked an encrypted Iphone. I'm not saying that a really good engineer can't make it difficult but time patience and money can hack it all. What really gets to me is that the media blames the company using the technology for the hack instead of the developer of the technology itself. There is a lot of helpful information on this forum on how to secure online communications but the advice comes with warnings. The measures are not "absolute". Safety vs Usability.
