    Second Monitor

Hey friends, I have just bought a second monitor ... it is a vintage find ... how I luv an old CRT (cathode ray tube)!

But I find nothing in settings to set up a spare monitor ... you could have an extra screen with Windows ... do you know what I mean?

I know almost no programming. Is there an easy line of code to set up a spare screen, on Ubuntu? Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS.

    Re: Second Monitor

It's as easy if not easier than in Windows.
Connect it and boot, that's it. At this point you need to Settings > Screens and adjust your preferences. Typically there's nothing else to do but occasionally old monitors (and some newish) with analog connection aren't detected correctly and their native resolution isn't available. In such cases you may need to use xrandr.

Can you pleez tell me what to do ... which of these packages to use, for xrandr to receive a second monitor; and what to do - step-by-step, please? The software available is:

PPI - custom screen resolution etc.
    graphics-debug-tools-bboozzoo - for debugging graphics.
Monitor Settings - for the monitor.
    Display - for the desktop.
Screen Display - for the desktop.
Monitor Status Indicator - something to do with "rotating monitors"?
