How to fix terrible audio on Ubuntu?

Audio playback is terrible on my laptop. Sound while playing videos on Chrome or VLC is too low.
    I found this:
    https://forum.manjaro.org/t/pulse-au...rking/64653/20
but it's for manjaro. It has helped.
Also installing Pulse effect has solved music part. Still having problem with vlc.

Is there a way to fix terrible audio on ubuntu?

Most laptops sound terrible in my opinion but that's because my desktop plays through a hifi system.
The thinner the laptop the worse the sound; what hardware do you have?

Go into Pulse while a video is playing. Look at "playback" and "input" tabs. You will probably see in the "playback" tab a place to raise the volume.
