    are you saying you get these temperatures on boot (when system is idle) or are you using some application and the temp goes up?

    64C is a bit too hot even for i7.
    Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
    Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?

    Hi mastablasta, I get them when I'm using the computer, with just Google Chrome (active) and Skype (idle) open.

    skype on linux has a bug. The cpu usage shoots up to 100% if you had a video call and then just hanged up. You have to restart skype to stop that (or just quit if you don't use it). So when you said you have skype idling it might be using a lot of cpu in the background if you had recently made a call but without restarting skype.
