I cannot share my entire screen during video calls. Whenever I choose the option 'Entire Screen' the OS starts sharing a black screen with just my mouse pointer.

Video calls is vague. Exactly which of the 200+ tools is being used? Probably best to edit the title with that service at the beginning.
Also, which display server is being used? Wayland or X11? I know in 2017 when Wayland was first made the default, no video capture tools worked. I've not used Wayland since a 10 minute test back then. Perhaps they got that working? IDK.
