Hello,
I am trying to install R 4.0 packages on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS by following the instructions in https://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu/README.html .
I added
deb https://cloud.r-project.org/bin/linux/ubuntu xenial-cran40/
to my /etc/apt/sources.list file.
Then for secure apt I did -
sudo apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys E298A3A825C0D65DFD57CBB651716619E084DAB9
Then I did -
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install r-base
The sudo apt-get update runs fine but sudo apt-get install r-base gives the following error message -
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done

I don't know how to fix this. I am new to installing R. Please help!
