hp all in one printer

I just did a fresh install of ubuntu 20.04.I have a hp 2540 all in one printer. i installed hp lip 3.20.5. I got the test page to print correctly. When i went to print a paper I saw 2 different messages. First one said could not start printer please check printer configuration. the 2nd said deskjet 2540 Printer(cn312fkc8064)device communication failure (5012)..when i looked at hp toolbox i see my printere but a red x next to it.how can this be fixed . any help is appreciated.

Is your printer set to a static IP address? Your description of the problem often indicates that the IP address has changed on the printer.

i did a reinstall of hplip 3.20.5. printer now works

i di hp set up and change my ip address and printer worked.

hi all,

I got the same problem here:
HP 2540 does not work on Ubuntu 20.04.
I tried hplib and the alternative hplip.

Every print stops around halfway the first page.
