I converted successfully with booted Focal Fossa usb install medium to terminal
Code:
sudo btrfs-convert /dev/mappper/ubuntu--vg-root
The conversion completes and ext2_saved is created.
Than
Code:
sudo mkdir /mnt/hdd
sudo mount /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root /mnt/hdd
And btrfs root filesystem mounts under /mnt/hdd. There are no subvolumes.
I create subvolume @ and a @_snapshot_[date] by
Code:
sudo btrfs subvolume create /mnt/hdd @
sudo btrfs subvolume create /mnt/hdd @_snapshot_[date]
Subvolume @ is created and I do:
Code:
sudo umount /mnt/hdd
sudo mount -o subvol=@ /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root /mnt/hdd
And the @ subvolume mounts cleanly and I do
Code:
cd /mnt/hdd
and can browse thru / filesystem.
Now I do:
Code:
for i in dev dev/pts sys proc run; do sudo mount --bind /$i /mnt/hdd/$i; done
sudo chroot /mnt/hdd
sudo nano etc/fstab
and correct etc/fstab entry
/dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root / subvol=@,defaults,noatime,nodiratime 0 0
and do
Code:
grub-install /dev/sda
update-grub
update-initramfs -u
grub-install --recheck /dev/sda
exit
for i in run proc sys dev/pts dev; do sudo umount /mnt/hdd/$i; done
umount /mnt/hdd
All commands complete without error.
reboot
System is booting but I get errors of services failing to start such as
Kernel Module loader, Logon Service, Network something and a couple of more services. And I am left with system I can't login to, no ttys work probably because of failed Logon service.
Why are those services failing to start? I try again and post pics of output and get on ttys.
