looking for web connected phone sevice

years ago i had Skype based telephone service that i paid for. it worked on Firefox back then, but not today. i do not want to run an app directly on my laptop (if they even have one for Linux). i paid extra for a fixed phone number that all my outbound phone calls would come from.

i checked out Google Voice and all it would do is let me choose a phone number from a list and forward it to my existing number (i don't have an existing number). that looked like a rather useless service.

anyone know of a web-based telephone provider that can work with Firebox? i know that voice+video connectivity can be done in Firefox. i will not run Chrome.

You can buy an interface device that will let you use Google Voice from regular telephones. I've been thinking about replacing my landline this way.

    For instance, https://www.amazon.com/Obihai-OBi200...dp/B07FCS1NGM/.
