Hi I've installed Krita and it has no menu bar (the file, edit view etc) I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it's not fixing anything. I've got a few other graphic software installed ( gimp and inkscape) could these be causing problems?

Which flavor/DE do you use? It may be a bug related to that.

Is it unity? It works here. I downloaded the krita appimage from its own website (Ubuntu 20.04). When unmaximized the global menu is on top of screen.

Ubuntu 16.04 / unity
My main machine is still on 16.04 with unity. Krita has menu the same as in my 20.04 screenshots. How did you install Krita? I downloaded the appimage from https://krita.org./en/download/krita-desktop/ All you have to do is to give the file the permission to execute, click and start, that's it.
I downloaded it from ubuntu software center.
