Laptop turned off during installation

I was installing lubuntu on a old laptop and it was going great until it was deleting the old windows 7 system, my laptop turned off due to overheating preventing to damage some components or something, but when I tried to turn on again my laptop won't pass the black screen with this symbol "_", I tried to boot up the usb again but can't seem to pass that screen, that overheating thing broke my hard drive? There's a way to fix it?
