Unhappy No Fractional Scaling available in Ubuntu

    Hi,
I am running ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS (Bionic Beaver).

I use a 4K monitor connected to the Lenovo X1 Yoga Laptop

    1. I couldnt find fractional scaling to 125% available in display settings
    2. I tried to enable fractional scaling via CLI but that didnt work
    3. To get the display proper I need to set it to 2K in my 4K laptop so that at 100% the display looks big enough
    4. If i set the display to 4K and 100% is too small. 4K at 200% is too big.

I want to set 4K Resolution with scaling to 125% or 150% which are not available in the GUI

    someone please help.

Gnome got fractional scaling in 20.04. The other desktop environments have had it for years.

Re: No Fractional Scaling available in Ubuntu

    Hi,

I have a 4k LG monitor and I need fractional scaling in order to make things a better size. However I have run into the same problem others have reported after ubuntu 20.04 install. I am using the proprietary tested nvidia driver 440. When I choose scaling to 125% or 150%, the screen goes black for several seconds and then it returns to the previous state, with no changes in scale whatsoever. Alternatively, with the community supported driver (noveau), the scaling seems to work, however I can not use it because on starting the OS, the system just hangs without going to the login screen (another issue that has also been reported).
I think the better solution would be to have scaling working with the nvidia driver. Any solutions?
Is there a way to pass this issue further up on management so this can be addressed in future updates?
    Thanks
