Airpods Pro - cannot connect as headset

I am running Ubuntu 20.04. and I just bought the newest Airpods Pro. I can connect them as Headphones but I cannot connect them as Headset. Any suggestions?

How are you trying to use them as headsets (presumably as HFP??)? What were the step you took, what failed exactly?

When i connect them with the bluetooth gui interface of ubuntu they only show up as headphones and not as headset and cannot use microphone. I installed blueman, the same happens with blueman also just shows up as headphones. In blueman when I try to change from A2DP to HFP it gives an error Failed to change profile to headset_head_unit. But I tried my friends earbuds Sony WF-1000XM3 and they show up in ubuntu bluetooth gui as headsets and also in blueman and microphone works fine with A2DP.
