Question Ubuntu 20.04 Realtek wireless issues.

Hi. I upgraded to Ubuntu 20.04 yesterday. All seemed to go fine after a few initial hiccups. I have a working desktop, and the wi-fi initially ran fine in both the live session before instal and initially after instal. However, 4 times out of 5 the wireless refuses to work. There are no wireless points listed in Gnome and turning the wi-fi off and on again doesn't resolve it. Yet ifconfig shows wlp2s0 as an interface. But occasionally, I boot into a new session and the wireless is working. Gnome lists wireless points and I can connect and hold the connection without issue.
Is this some sort of issue related to the loading of the module/driver? Or maybe a known wireless issue with this version of the kernel? Or is it Gnome that's playing silly beggars?

    Kernel: 5.4.0-21-generic
    Wireless card: Realtek RTL8723AE

Is there some way to connect to wireless without using the Gnome network GUI, if it's a Gnome problem? Or to re-start the networking from the command line without re-starting Ubuntu?

    Thanks in advance.
