    New GPU and re-install

    Morning all,

    Stupid question time... I have a new graphics card turning up today, will I need to re-install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS after I've fitted it or will the OS pick it up on boot?

    It depends on what GPU and driver you are currently using, and what GPU you're installing. Please provide that info.

    Sorry.. I'm using nVidia 440 drivers, the old card was a EVGA gtx 970, new card is a gtx 1660 super sc

    You won't have to do anything except install the new card. Both cards use the same driver.

    many thanks, I thought that'd be the case.... too many nightmares when doing this kind of thing on the winblows and having to re-install
