Will a desktop with this hardware run fine on Ubuntu 19 or the upcoming 20?

Motherboard: ASUS Pro WS X570-ACE, S-AM4
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 3900X
    RAM: Kingston DDR4 2666MHz 32GB ECC KIT
    GPU: Nvidia Quadro RTX 4000
    HDD: Intel 660p 1TB M.2 SSD (x2)

Or are there known incompatibilities? In general, are there any modern hardware
that doesn't cooperate well with Ubuntu?

Given that I install the right drivers et cetera

That will scream on Ubuntu. The only thing that you might need to do would be to install the Nvidia driver. Do NOT attempt to install the driver from the Nvidia site though! Once you get Ubuntu installed, go to Additional Drivers and choose the recommended one.

Re: Will a desktop with this hardware run fine on Ubuntu 19 or the upcoming 20?

Please excuse me butting into your thread, I have a similar request to @dfish2 and thought it better to add here rather than create a new thread. I run Ubuntu on my older systems, but have decided to now run it on a brand new box too (I want to completely move away from Win).

My uses include: Work - running VMs, coding (some data heavy apps with DBs), some graphics work. Leisure - Music, movies, BOINC apps
I know 128 RAM is a lot, but if the next Win is better than 10 I might install it and you can guarantee it will be an increased RAM hog like all its predecessors.

Anyway, the config I am looking at is:

    Processor (CPU)
    AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960X 24 Core CPU (3.8GHz - 4.5GHz, 142MB CACHE)

    Motherboard
    ASUS® PRIME TRX40-PRO (DDR4, 6Gb/s, CrossFireX/SLI) - RGB Ready!

    Memory (RAM)
    128GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3000MHz (8 x 16GB)

    Graphics Card
    8GB AMD RADEON™ RX 580 - HDMI, DP - DX® 12

    1st Storage Drive
    2TB Samsung 860 QVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 550MB/sR | 520MB/sW)

Any major driver or other software issues I should think about?

    Many thanks in advance.
