Unhappy Gnome PPP doesn't find built-in Agere Dial-Up Modem

    Hello.
I'm trying to use dial up with an pretty old Acer Aspire 5600.
I have installed Ubuntu Mate on it because it had a 32 bit version and I was pretty good to go but then when I tried using Gnome PPP, it didn't find my Agere Modem!
I would like some easy to use .deb installer or some easy tutorial with WORKING Links, please.
    Thanks

To install (Xubuntu) a *.deb file, I normally just double click the file which brings up the software installer then you just click install.
    It's pretty simple.

I addressed the easy part in Post #2; a link you may be looking for is here, https://askubuntu.com/questions/4077...e-command-line
Did you get your modem working?
