    Define "increased security" since that is rather a vague term given all the potential security threats in your current model. I believe others have elucidated to this fact all ready.

    Use a router with a real firewall.
    Use host-only networking for the VM. If that doesn't meet your needs, use NAT for the VM.

    As per your suggestions I have changed the VM networking to NAT.

    What I mean is I am stuck with the router provided by my ISP.

    I checked my router at grc.com and it passed the test.
