Question Anyone knows a Kbd shortcut to open Nautilus (Files)?

I rather avoid the mouse due to a potential Carpal Tunnel syndrome.

    Thanks

Re: Anyone knows a Kbd shortcut to open Nautilus (Files)?

Shortcuts often vary dependending on the desktop environment and other factors like distro specifics. You don't say what you're using...

In standard Ubuntu, now with Gnome, some shortcuts from the old Unity seem to have been "ported". Namely the SUPER+n where n is the number of the program's position in the launcher, still works. The difference is, in Unity, once we pressed and hold the SUPER key numbers would overlay the icons in the launcher and in Gnome it does nothing. But the shortcut works nevertheless. In my case I have nautilus (files) as the seventh from the top so SUPER+7 opens it for me.

All the above is applicable to the standard Ubuntu only.

    What distro/release are you using?

I found the next link, but with this thread being in Other Operating Systems > Ubuntu/Debian Based I don't know if it will work for you being for ubuntu. I'll post it anyhow, it may help you work out how to set up a custom keyboard shortcut for your needs ...
    https://help.ubuntu.com/stable/ubuntu-help/keyboard-shortcuts-set.html.en
Scroll down the page a bit and look for "Custom Shortcuts".

If it does not suit being for ubuntu, google "set custom keyboard shortcut in ???" (replace ??? with your distro name) and look for info like in the link above.

For Gnome Desktop, go to Settings > Devices > Keyboard, then:
Change shortcut for opening Files to whatever you like by first clicking on 'Home Folder' in the list and then entering the combination to you want. See screenshot. The default was 'Explorer' - I changed it here to 'Ctrl-F'.

    Damn!
You all were so right about my failing to mention my distro and other details, especially for something like this (rolling eyes). So sorry guys!

@Dennis, just using Settings as you suggested did it. Thank you

    Have a nice weekend everybody!
