Unable to watch DVDs

Hi. I'm completely new to Ubuntu and find I can't watch DVDs.

I've done the sudo install pkg thing and the message returned is that it's already installed.

I tried the reconfigure thing but again, it's already installed.

I have no idea where to look so I can purge whatever's there and reinstall it so it works.

What software are you trying to use to watch a DVD? Is this a commercial DVD movie or something you or someone you know put together?

It's a commercial DVD. Tintin. The software that wouldn't work.......VLC.

Uhm..........wow!

I tried out the advice via the link and tried it and it worked. Not only did it work but it worked so easily.

And here was me thinking I might go back to Windows 10!

I made the change just a couple of days ago, initially liking Ubuntu then disliking it, now highly impressed.

Having access to a community like this where people are happy to answer questions and put up viable links certainly helps with the transition.
