    (Chinese) Pinyin input in 18.04

I upgraded to 18.04 (with a clean install). I had no problem installing or using pinyin input in the previous LTS release but I just can't get it to work in 18.04.

I installed Chinese (simplified) in Language Support, added the sunpinyin input method in IBus settings but when I try to add it as an input source on the Region & Language tab in Settings, it's just not there. I can only see bopomofo which I don't want to use.

    Please advise.

    Hello justhelpme,
Looks like you are new to these forums. May I be the first to welcome you.
I do not use pinyin in any way. The first I ever knew it existed was when I inadvertently switched to pinyin input on my phone. Wow - panic time! Long time ago with no bearing on your issue.

Note: If you do not have synaptic installed, it can be downloaded/installed from a terminal:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install synaptic
Locate and run synaptic under your System setting, search for pinyin, the search results will display every package associated with pinyin. You can download/install any package you think you need. I don't know if this will help or not. Maybe there are some other pinyin users that can help. Good luck.
    Cheers,
