im new to this. my old Toshiba laptop bios doesnt support boot from usb. thus i need to make a dvd but I use a macbook pro. not clear if diskutility or finder will allow me to create a bootable iso disk. thx

Any utility/software that can burn an ISO image will do the job.

Sorry - not useful to create optical media.
It has been almost a decade since I used an optical disk to install.... but should some lurkers come who can use a flash drive, Google found this official Ubuntu Tutorial for OSX:

then how are people installing linux on old laptops... my laptop is toshiba satellite m45 from 2005. the bios doesnt support boot from usb?
