new forum acct created because SSO has 2 different emails

Hi! chinarut2 got created because when it asked me to log in using SSO, I was able to use LOGINEMAIL@DOMAIN.COM while my email on file is CONTACTEMAIL@DOMAIN.COM - this works great because I want emails to go to a different place than the email I use to log in with (gets spammed like crazy as you can might imagine... )

I figured this wasn't an issue. Well, when I logged in, it had created a new account "chinarut2"

here is the link to my original account:

thanks so much for completing this so I can give kudos on this thread for solving my problem! Glad to be back to Ubuntu - it's been quite the last 24 hrs and thank you for giving new life to my 2007 MacBook! 18.04 LTS is stellar! Look forward to participating more fully in these forums

You need to change your email at Ubuntu One to the one you were using in your original account on the forum.

You can find information about SSO Registration at Ubuntu One by clicking on the link below.

Re: new forum acct created because SSO has 2 different emails

thanks for the follow up and excuse my belated response!

how do I determine what email I registered chinarut with in 2005? I can't log into the account because these forums ask for a SSO login now and I'm guessing the email is not an email I actively use today, in 2020.

For security reasons we cannot tell you old email.
chinarut was created in 2005 and has only 9 posts. ( if that was you).

chinarut2 was created in 2014 and now has 4 posts.

So neither account has been active

Re: new forum acct created because SSO has 2 different emails

    circling around here again.

thank you for that information. yes, the accounts are inactive because the login issue hasn’t been resolved yet and hesitant to post or participate to avoid fragmentation.

I’m willing to let go of “chinarut”

how do I change my username “chinarut2”?

If it’s easier, I’m willing to let go of “chinarut2” and just start over with my SSO and my desired username.

thanks again - I don’t mean for this to drag on so long.

Re: new forum acct created because SSO has 2 different emails

You cannot have different email for SSO and Ubuntu forums.
That is how they are linked.

    Single Sign On
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SS...te_SSO_Account
Login now by means of Ubuntu One SSO only - sticky thread
    http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2230004
    Older sticky thread on SSO

    Example of unlinking SSO email

After changing your email address, you have to validate it as per the instructions contained in the forum email sent to you after changing your address.

I have tried to update email for users to match, but they usually just disappear. Not sure if it worked or they never saw or responded to email to confirm change.
If you PM me your correct SSO email, I can change it in the Forums.
