    Wi-Fi Dongle

What is an easy to set up Wi-Fi Dongle for a Desktop PC that plays well with Ubuntu?

25 feet coverage needed through single brick wall or 2 x wooden doors that leads to room with router.

    Re: Wi-Fi Dongle

    I see.

    So the title is:

"TP-Link Nano USB Wifi Dongle 150Mbps High Gain Wireless Network Adapter for PC Desktop and Laptops. Supports Win10/8.1/8/7/XP, Linux 2.6.18~4.4.3, Mac OS 10.9~10.13 (TL-WN722N)"

So dispute its says up Linux 4.4.3 it works with later versions.

I perhaps should have an internal card pci card such as:

    "TP-Link TL-WN881ND 300 Mbps Wireless N PCI Express Adapter"

Although TP Link when asked in an email say that one is also not supported past 4.1

I also use a Medion Akoya Laptop winch is now getting old, but works fine with Linux. Is that because it's built in and updates with Linux are for the chip set?

    i.e. CPU: Intel i3-2350M (4) @ 2.300GHz & Intel Sandybridge Mobile

    This device, TP-Link WN823N RTL8192EU, works with release 18.10
This device, EdiMax EW-7811Un, works with release 18.04+ (also works with Raspbian 9.1 Stretch)
    Cheers,

    Re: Wi-Fi Dongle

How old is your EdiMax EW-7811Un dongle, sometimes they change the chip set and then it doesn't work. The RS website makes no mention of it working with Linux

The TP-Link WN823N RTL8192EU on Amazon website says it OK upto kernel Linux 2.6.24~4.9.60:
