update errors when installing brave browser

I am trying to install the brave browser from different instructions. I have tried using:
    Code:
    sudo apt install snapd
    sudo snap install brave
The browser freezes. I uninstalled with:

    Code:
    sudo snap remove brave
I tried installing with the instructions here:

    https://www.tecrobust.com/install-br...debian-latest/

    Code:
    sudo apt install apt-transport-https curl

    curl -s https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3...brave-core.asc | sudo apt-key --keyring /etc/apt/trusted.gpg.d/brave-browser-release.gpg add -
    source /etc/os-release

    Code:
    echo "deb [arch=amd64] https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ $UBUNTU_CODENAME main" | sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release-${UBUNTU_CODENAME}.list
    but when I try:

    sudo apt update

    I get the following output:

Re: update errors when installing brave browser

The problem isn't with the brave repository at all but with several old repositories you've got in your sources that either don't exist any more (www.getdeb.net and possibly dl.bintray.com/aluxian), don't have any packages for your version of Ubuntu since they haven't been updated in a very long time (the ubuntu-wine ppa) or have changed their key since you installed them (dl.winehq.org).
The procedure for fixing the key for dl.winehq.org is described in this post on the winehq forum.
For removing the three broken repositories you've got three option:
    • There should be a graphical tool for doing this. On Xubuntu - which I am using - it's found in settings and is called 'Software & Updates'. The actual program this runs is 'software-properties-gtk'. This - or something similar - should be available on all flavours of Ubuntu. It gives you a list of all sources for packages and gives you the option to activate, deactivate or edit them.
    • You can use 'sudo add-apt-repository --remove' with the repository as a parameter to remove a repository.
    • You can remove configuration fragments from /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ (getdeb seems to be installed as such a fragment; 'sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/getdeb.list' should get rid of this problem) or edit /etc/apt/sources.list ('sudoedit /etc/apt/sources.list' is probably the best way to do this) and either remove the lines which define the broken sources or mark them as comments (which stops apt from using these sources) by putting a '#' at the beginning of the line.

Re: update errors when installing brave browser

I have found out that I can keep it from freezing by turning off the hardware acceleration under settings.

    Thanks!
