Unhappy GNOME Ubuntu 19 poor battery life

Hi, my problem is, since switching from windows my laptop battery life has been about halved, with ubuntu 19 and GNOME desktop.
I suspect the desktop is hardware accelerated and thus is using my dedicated GPU making my battery life really bad, can i disable hardware acceleration of the desktop while on battery somehow?

You may want to give slimbook battery a try. It helps though is not a cure.
    You can get it here.

I make sure TLP is enabled on any notebook installs. Slimbook battery make serve the same functions, not sure.
