Angry Ubuntu 18.04 is reset to initial state when reboot.

I follow the tips in https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutoria...ick-on-macos#6 to install Unbuntu 18.04 to make a bootable SSD for a MacBookPro14.1.
It look like everything is ok.
One thing is very strange, I setup everything( include login user name, wifi, update software.. ) at first time, and reboot the computer, everything go back to initial state like a new one.
Is it normal for a bootable system ?

This worked for me ( about 3 weeks of fiddling, but finally OK )
MBPro - OS 10.14.6 Mojave - installation to USB 32G drive.
    Good luck.
