    Scott Gilbertson lauds 19.10, nicknamed Eoan Ermine, as "it's the best non-LTS Ubuntu release Canonical has ever put out... and it is quite simply the best Ubuntu Canonical has ever released". Scott, a 10 year reviewer of Ubuntu and a ~14 year user, relates the reasons why he is so impressed with this release. Notably: faster - making old hardware feel newer, new features, and the improvements in GNOME.

    Ubuntu Touch Can Now Run on Raspberry Pi 3 with the Official 7" Touch Screen LCD

    Marius Nestor reports on the Ubuntu Touch development progress that now brings touch to the Raspberry Pi 3 single-board computer (SBC). This development enhances the development platform for much wider bases. Marius advises of bluetooth support, and Mir's display server running on Wayland. He also provides a video link to a Q&A session and informs us that next month's Ubuntu Touch OTA-12 update will have cool new features and improvements.

    Canonical Formulates The 32-Bit Support Strategy For Ubuntu 20.04 LTS

    Michael Larabel reports on the status of Canonical's support for 32-bit packages in the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS release. Michael links to the post that details the additions and removals that are planned and notes that prominent 32-bit packages will still be accessible.

    The Linux Kernel Disabling HPET For More Platforms - Including Ice Lake

    Michael Larabel informs on the state of disabling HPET, the High Precision Event Timer, for Intel Coffee Lake systems. Michael relates the work-a-round to avoid the problem, and adds that the new Intel Ice Lake platform is also affected. As this appears to be a firmware issue a software solution is pending, while for now the kernel is blacklisting affected platforms.

    Eric Brown reports on Pine64’s open source PinePhone launch. Eric gives a short background of Linux-based phones development culminating in a new version of Ubuntu Touch that can run on the Raspberry Pi. However, Eric gives focus to Pine64’s offering of the "Braveheart” Limited Edition PinePhone wherein the specs are provided.
