Huh. Go figure......trained to dress and act like humans at an early age, a family of show badgers was discovered to have been living independently of their owners, who had passed away unexpectedly decades ago. The badgers made themselves right at home in their former owners' home, digging a new basement under the sub-flooring. Carol Angleston of East Lansing veterinary clinic, who has examined the badgers, says they have only minor health issues and will be kept under observation for the time being.
"They are very interesting animals. They tend toward an upright stance during their daily activities. They also vocalize mucgh more frequently than normal, wild badgers do." Ms. Angleston is an expert on badgers, having acted as supervising vet for Wildcare Badger Rescue in Anne Arbor for the last 20 years.
