    High ram memory consumption on xubuntu bionic

    Hello I just installed xubuntu minimal and I noticed a high ram consumption it starts with 900 MB measured by the command free -he htop and analyzing the processes is nothing unusual now with firefox this is 1.5 GB generic kernel is that is problem of kernel?

    It doesn't seem excessive to me. Web browsers are known to eat a lot of memory, in particular if you open many tabs. You still have about three quarters of your memory available.

    Hmm, I don't know about memory management on ubuntu, which I found strange is the system starting with 900MB on a raw xfce, and I also noticed that the kernel doesn't consume caching nor swap so for me it's very good because I don't like it when use swap.
