AR, VR development - when is linux going to support

I have been using linux for over 3 years. I really like MINT19 and Ubuntu18.
I trashed my windows pc and will not go back to windows, ever.
I have a degree in in math - linux provides very good tools for math. Much better than windows or mac-os.
The latest and greatest software application development area is in the use of VR and AR.
Apparently, the only AR and VR development kits run on windows or OS.
Is this true - if so, then linux will never catch on.
So, "what is the plan for linux in regards to AR and VR?".

Linux already caught on. There are more Linux installs on more devices - by at least an order of magnitude - than anything from Microsoft.

I believe that there are VR and AR applications already running on Android -- which has at its heart a Linux kernel. Further, virtually every supercomputer in the world runs Linux and I bet some of them are engaged by VR and AR developers.
