    limitin full screen mode

    does X have a means to limit the display area of a GUI application that is switching into full screen mode? for example, avoiding covering the panel in xfce.

    Yes, Settings > Panel, set Automatically hide the panel: to Never

    it's already set to Never but full screen mode is still the whole 1920x1080.
