how much CPU when nothing is running

i'm not running anything at the moment. yet i have 12% CPU in use. half of that is firefox leaving ubuntuforums.org open. i guess that is technically running something. the other half is pulseaudio. no audio is playing at the moment. i guess it is playing silence.
YouTube/Google still does not put their ads between songs like radio stations do, so, I am boycotting their advertisers.

That would take a few CPU cycles.

Mine would be about the same if I didn't have Motion running. Motion tends to run about 30-35% of one core for 30fps on 1080p.
