PC crashes when recovering from suspend

Every time my HP 255 G6 laptop with Ubuntu 18.04 goes into suspend, my PC freezes upon waking up. In order to use my PC again, I need to force the laptop to shut down by holding the power button for several seconds, and rebooting.
I've had this problem ever since I installed Ubuntu, but had no problems on Windows 10. I have found a work-around that involves disabling suspend, but I don't think that's a good solution to the problem. I have attached systemlogs from one occurrence; I close the lid at 18:51:25 and try to resume at 18:51:45, resulting in my PC freezing. Please help

Try CTRL+ALT+F7 to get back to a GUI Login.
This works in the same situation on my Lubuntu 18.04.3 running on a new laptop.

Doesn't solve the problem, but it is bearable.
