White stripe on the left of my monitor.

Hello, this is my first post here.
    This is how it appeared:
A year or more ago i was playing some game on fullscreen, then my computer fell and hit the ground. Nothing cracked or broke, just a white stripe on the left. It was getting a little bit bigger every once in a while.
I tried looking it up but i didnt find anything, and i'm too lazy to keep looking for fixes.

Hi and welcome, I assume this is a laptop. If so what is the model and specs? What version of Ubuntu is the system using? I'm lazy so that's enough question for now.

Is the viewable part of the screen shrinking or is the white part covering some of what you would normally see?

    replace the display.
Read the easy to understand, lots of pics Ubuntu manual.
Do i need antivirus/firewall in linux?
Full disk backup (newer kernel -> suitable for newer PC): Clonezilla
