After 5 years, Jonathan Riddell reports that the KDE team has released polkit-qt-1, which is the Qt5 GUI version of system-wide permission management. This version has two notable changes, the addition of passing details to polkit, and the removal of Qt4 support.

Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS new Livepatch update now makes it easier to patch the Linux kernel without requiring a system reboot. It adds the tray support to easily manage updates, and allows users to read more about specific CVEs. It also notifies users of patches ready for install, or just applied.

Ubuntu 19.10 "Eoan Ermine" Enters Feature Freeze, Beta Available September 26th
Marius Nestor reports that Ubuntu 19.10 Eoan Ermine enters feature freeze, as of August 22nd, which means that no new features will be accepted into applications. Additionally, Marius reports that the Alpha development cycle is dropped, and the Beta version will be released on September 26th.
