gnome games start but cannot be played

When I start a game, such as gnome-mahjongg or gnome-sudoku, the opening screen appears, but I cannot click anything. I suspect myself of having removed some required package. I have already removed, then reinstalled, the gnome-mahjongg package, in hopes that the dependency would be picked up, but it made no difference. Help!

Try the snap package of gnome-mahjongg. It should work in any Ubuntu flavor.

Strange enough, this was solved by a reboot. Linux is becoming more and more like everything we do not like
